The Royal Mail might be going through a bit of a bad patch... but overall, is it really that bad? Mail is delivered twice a day AND on Saturdays...and in general you post something and it reaches your destination.
In South Africa, we weren't so lucky. Mail arrives once a day, 5 days a week. And every time I sent or received a parcel for the last year it either never arrived or when it did (very very late) it had been opened and something stolen out of it. My gran even had a pair of socks stolen sent to her by her sister. Seriously.
I'm not saying that the Post Office in SA is entirely useless, I could just have really bad luck. My point is that the UK has a service that works - most of the time. Surely postal workers are entitled to good working conditions and have a right to strike to ensure that they get them?
The Royal Mail is generally very effective and if it takes a strike to maintain that effectiveness, then maybe we should grin and bear it. At least it is only temporary. 8 months ago via web
It's no wonder their volumes are falling when it's such a nightmare to post anything. Why they can't install a few electronic machines for simple postage enquiries I cannot think 8 months ago via web
The queues at the Post Office are like something out of Life on Mars. Would this be the case if it wasn't a guaranteed state monopoly? 8 months ago via web

I read that the Royal Mail made a special effort to reduce deliveries to once a day at most, specifically to kill the twice a day post. I've had plenty go missing, but it does generally work...although, I quite frankly don't know why we don't get post on a Sunday too. 8 months ago via web
