The Wellcome Trust have recently (I think) installed some Mitsubishi hand driers that are complete rip offs of the Dyson Airblades except for two key problems: 1. the design is hideous, you can see the grotty water collecting at the bottom of the drier for example, and more importantly: 2. they don't actually dry your hands.
Particularly in a place where attention to good design seems to be a big deal, these cheap versions of the real thing really let down the bathroom experience - which I'd feel ridiculous saying except that I've overheard several conversations in those bathrooms and the nearby corridor saying pretty much saying exactly the same! 8 months ago via web
I heard about Dyson Airblades a few years ago. The first one I ever used was in the toilets at the Design Museum in London. They also had a promotional stand at the Innocent Village Fete a couple of years ago. However despite their efficiency and environmental credentials I rarely come across them in public places. I think the Design Museum was an exception due to obviously being a supporter of good design. I don't know if this is due to a lack of marketing or a lack of interest because they done seem to have taken off in the same way as the vacuum cleaners which is a shame.
Maybe they need to be promoted to interiors designers or people who specify the fit outs for public toilets, particularly in shopping centres . Or to developers who own shopping centres and commercial buildings from the angle of saving money on electricity bils or the cost of disposing of waste paper towels. 9 months ago via web
Apparently, a Dyson AirBlade "only" costs £680 incl VAT. Lots of people on Twitter say they want one for their own houses! 9 months ago via web
The thing with hot air dryers that Dyson correctly worked out is that it's the air flow and not the air heat that matters. In fact you don't need any heat at all. You also don't need the air to form a blade. All you need is a lot of compressed air out of a nozzle. So rather than £680 for your home why not get a £49.99 compressor from Sealey with the added benefit that you can use it to blow up your tyres and for the odd spray painting job too. 8 months ago via web

What about some (peel off) stickers we could carry for such cases and stick on the things? 9 months ago via web
Hi John,
Thats a really cool suggestion! People will see the QR message imediately at their point of frustration. And Toilet Graffiti is usually seen as entertaining anyhow...

Well, this wouldn't just be any toilet graffiti...this would be QR graffiti! 9 months ago via web
Yep, about as useful as chocolate fireguards, bring on the dyson, revelation at your fingertips! 9 months ago via web
Sick and tired of waving my hands around like a looney to find the censor to turn it on or pressing the button over and over again to ensure that all the drips are dried! Let's spread the love for the Dyson Airblades and get rid of the old energy inefficent automatic ones! 9 months ago via web
Never thought of the wasteful, energy side of things. Who'd have thought that crappy hand dryers are not only annoying, they might also be a big contributor to global warming and climate change! Wow, this Quiet Riot is really opening my eyes. Thanks for sharing! 9 months ago via web
Is there anything worse than placing a cold damp hand underneath a hand dryer expecting a hygenic, speedy and cosy drying experience, only to be let down by what feels like the breath of a 90 year old eskimo lady trying to blow out her birthday candles through your fingers? Possibly, but it's not on Quiet Riots yet! 9 months ago via web
So funny! And so true! You've really captured the spirit of what gets me mad about those dryers! 9 months ago via web
Is there anything worse? Well, possibly using those wet, very dirty towels on a roll and you have to find the one remaining bit that's dry and not completely fetid. 9 months ago via web
Woo Hooo I am following you:) Or airport dryers that want to blow all the skin off your hands 9 months ago via web
